About

Colleges Week is a week-long celebration of further education organised by the Association of Colleges. It celebrates the achievements of colleges across England and highlights the range of opportunities and resources that further education provides its many learners.

This event will include speakers from a range of institutions sharing their innovative use of digital technology to overcome challenges and prepare their learners with the right skills for the digital workplace of the future.

Wednesday 19 October

Welcome and introduction

Robin will briefly introduce the future is here: celebrating #CollegesWeek event speakers and we will play a short film - further education: the future is here.

Sharing Cardiff and vale college’s technological development initiatives

Stevie will be sharing her college’s technology journey, from a TEL strategy to their digital transformation strategy, and the initiatives and projects that have helped them develop as a college and a community.

Speaker: Stevie Cooke, head of technology enhanced learning, Cardiff and Vale College

Digital wellbeing and using tech mindfully in further education

Scott will be discussing the importance of digital wellbeing, including his initiative at Basingstoke College of Technology, and the responsibility of colleges to help each other use technology with intention.

Digital Transformation - a College journey

Karen will discuss the following:

  • Background information
  • Investment and Infrastructure
  • Teaching, learning and assessment - Core applications
  • Digital champions
  • Benefits to students and staff

Speaker: Karen Spencer, principal and chief executive, Harlow College

Q&A and close

15 minute Q&A session with all three speakers, followed by a few closing words from Robin.
